I
was 10 years of age when I first put bow to string and began my
life long love affair with the violin. I was taught my first fiddle
song "Boil Down The Cabbage" one fourth of July afternoon,
in the mountains of Idaho, on The Salmon River. As evening rolled
around I played that tune with a live band and I guess I was hooked.
I was raised in Idaho, home of The National Old-Time Fiddle Competition,
and not much else so go figure, I learned how to fiddle. I spent
most of my years there traveling with my family around the Northwest
performing at State Fairs, Rodeos, and Fiddle Contests. In the
eighth grade I was flown to Washington D.C. to perform the great
fiddle standard "Orange Blossom Special" for the Presidential
Inaugural Gala, pretty big deal for a kid from Idaho. They wrote
about me in the local paper. Does that count against my fifteen
minutes? College years and then I hit the road. San Francisco
was the first stop, since then I have performed and traveled in
bands from Portland, Oregon to New York City. A resident of Brooklyn
for the past two years I have studied violin with Julie Lyonn
Lieberman and performed with my band Idaho Red at local venues.
